CBP Newsletter #2

CBP Newsletter #2

Post COVID update.

Thank you for being here.

The CBP Newsletter is for bring it all together,
and it's been a while,
so let’s catch up.

So much has changed, but much is still the same. We can still play music, and we might even have more time. Maybe even enough to create original music! We might have to think out of the box, but we can even share our music...

Student To Teacher Feature: Jimmy Mahoney.
Bark At The Moon by Ozzy Osbourne.

Student To Teacher Feature:

Jimmy Mahoney was my student from June 29th 2005 to August 2012, and he's going to show us how to play Bark At The Moon by Ozzy.  We have a Facebook Group with lots of my former students in it, and he shared this with us there. Watch the video above, and then you should check out the other videos, and the rest of the lesson here.

I'd love to do a Student To Teacher feature on you too! Email me your ideas!

Easy Melodies For Guitar Update:

I've been putting together an Ebook with music and video tutorials of easy melodies, and this week I sold three copies! Honestly, I'm ecstatic to have sold one. I made it for you to to teach melodies to your friends or even your children so YOU can be the hero! With 13 melodies, and 6 videos there's something that will interest every one. I made a blog post about the sales process here.

Take Aim On Purpose

“Let all your activity be directed to some object, let it have some end in view.”

Seneca (On The Shortness Of Life)

Look around you.
There are problems.
Make things better

It doesn't matter which philosopher or guru says it, it's true, and we all know it.

What should you do?
You get to choose.

For my part, I'm going to share my music, and how to make it. Since a bit of routine has returned, I'm focusing on practicing guitar three or more days a week, and creating original music on at least two. That's been realistic, and I've been productive. Keeping a routine down to leaving my chair, music stand, and guitar in the same place, and having my music on the stand really helps. I'll be sharing some of my new original music here in the coming issues of my newsletter, and I hope you'll share your's too!

Thanks for listening.

What Are You Practicing?

I always ask new students what songs they want to learn. Usually those songs are too difficult to learn right away, but I make a note and come back to them.

This means I get to learn a new song that's cool, analyze it, and figure out what part to teach. I found a method that works very reliably and quickly especially with young students, and I'm gonna share it with you here.

Space Jam
Post Your Original Music To YouTube, Instagram, And Facebook
I posted Space Jam to YouTube a few months ago. It's just 20 seconds of a simple riff I wrote, but it's been watched over 8,500 times and 23 people followed my channel after watching it. That's almost 60 hours of people watching a 20 second riff. That blows my mind! All I can say is if you make original music post it wherever you hang out online, and then send me a link and I'll share it too! It's really fun to see people enjoying your music.

What Are You Creating?

Thanks for reading!
Don’t forget to join us on Facebook, Instagram MusicInstagram lessons, and YouTube!  I put different material on each social network, and they all have their own vibe.

If you've got a moment, could I ask for some feedback? How can I help you? Where do you consistently get stuck? Let me know what you are interested hearing more of from me. It helps.
